Release: VMware releases Linux open source VDI client


VMware has released a LGPL licensed desktop virtualization client. VMware states this step supports VMware’s goal to deliver universal clients. By releasing the VMware View Open Client, VMware enables their partners to deliver better products. Especially manufacturers will profit from it by being able to better align their hardware to the client.

The decision to release it under LGPL will probably boost the acceptance of this technology, low-end and better priced client devices will become available for a broader audience.
